Intake Periods for International Students
In many countries—including the UK, Canada, USA, Ireland, Australia, Finland, France, Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary, Portugal, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden and the Netherlands—the August/September intake (often labelled the “Fall” or “Autumn” intake) is the most popular.
- A January (or Spring) intake is available in some of those countries for students who missed the main intake.
- In other countries, some institutions also offer courses beginning in April/May, or even year‑round intakes, providing additional flexibility.
- In Australia (and also frequently New Zealand), the main intake is in February, followed by a second major intake in July.
This varies by universities; but generally, it’s safe to apply early before your intended course start date.
Yes, you can!
Students enrolled in Master’s degree programs in countries such as the UK (MRes programs), Canada, New Zealand, Denmark, Sweden, Portugal, and Finland are generally allowed to travel with their dependants (spouse and/or children).
In some other countries, dependants may be eligible to join you later — typically after a minimum period of six months — through a family reunification visa once you’ve settled in and met specific visa or residence conditions.
For PhD programs, most countries allow you to bring your dependants from the start of your studies.

Yes, there are several budget-friendly study destinations in Europe where you can get quality education at a reasonable cost.
Some universities in Bulgaria, Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, Belgium, Portugal, Romania, Malta, Italy, and Spain offer undergraduate and postgraduate programs with tuition fees ranging from €2,500 – €6,000 per year.
In most of these countries, you can start your study journey with a budget of around ₦3 – ₦5 million (excluding proof of funds requirements).
